Hyderabad: For the first time in India, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme will be offered in Urdu through distance learning. The announcement came during a symposium held at Maulana Azad National Urdu University’s (MANUU) Bhopal regional centre.

Centre for Distance and Online Education director Prof. Mohammad Razaullah Khan said admissions were likely to begin by July or August. This is aimed at creating more academic options for Urdu-speaking students who may not be fluent in English or Hindi.

The symposium also saw announcements about an online diploma course in social media journalism and a pilot English-speaking programme for students from 100 madrasas, under a scheme titled ‘Madrasa Connect’.

Speakers at the event, including former bureaucrats, clerics, and academics, discussed the need to integrate modern education with traditional systems, especially through remote learning formats. They pointed to the potential for such programmes to improve access to higher education and job-readiness among students from marginalised educational backgrounds.
