Hyderabad: A case was registered against a police constable, who was recently suspended for allegedly posting objectionable remarks against TRS president K Kavitha on social media, police said on Wednesday.

Acting on a complaint received that the constable had posted "abusive" material against the former MP, now Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president, the police personnel was immediately placed under suspension, duly following the procedure under Civil Services Conduct Rules, Cyberabad Police said in a post on 'X'.

Upon receipt of the preliminary enquiry report from Commissioner of Police Hyderabad, an internal departmental enquiry will be initiated and conducted and punishment will be given as per the rules, it said.
In addition to the departmental action, criminal proceedings have also been initiated, Cyberabad Police said.
A case under Sections 75 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, has been registered against constable K Anil, at Cyber Crimes Police Station, Hyderabad on September 6.
Prima facie investigation revealed that the constable had posted objectionable content through his own mobile phone, Cyberabad Police further said.
"The device has been seized and forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination. Further legal proceedings will follow in accordance with the provisions of law under the invoked sections," they said.
As per suspension order, the constable exhibited gross negligence, dereliction of duty and grave misconduct in dishcarging his legitimate duties by posting posted objectionable material containing abusive and derogatory language directed against the TRS) president in social media, which cannot be tolerated in the disciplinary force.
The Cyberabad Police Commissioner had suspended the constable.
