BRS Leaders Put Under House Arrest Ahead of Musi Meet
Police confined P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and Karthik Reddy to their residences ahead of a stakeholders’ consultation on the Musi Riverfront development project.
BRS leaders P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and Karthik Reddy were placed under house arrest on Wednesday ahead of a consultation on the Musi Riverfront development project, prompting the party to accuse the Congress government of suppressing democratic rights and silencing Opposition voices.
Police personnel were deployed outside Sabitha's residence in Srinagar Colony from 4 am, restricting her movements. Karthik Reddy, the BRS in-charge for the Rajendranagar constituency, was also confined to his residence.
Speaking to reporters and police officers, Sabitha said the BRS had not called for any protest and that she had no plans to attend the meeting. Questioning the restrictions imposed on her, she accused the government of creating an Emergency-like situation and suppressing democratic rights.
Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL) managing director E.V. Narasimha Reddy clarified that the meeting was a stakeholders' consultation and not a public hearing. However, he declined to share further details about the proceedings.
Meanwhile, residents of Madhu Park Ridge said they had not been included in the consultation.
"About one and a half months ago, the MRO called us to submit our reply, but there has been no communication since then," the residents said.
