Braille Storybooks Crafted for Devnar Students

Seven tactile Braille storybooks have been created for students at Devnar School for the Blind, adding accessible reading material to the school’s library where such resources are limited. The books are designed to support early literacy, independent learning and shared reading experiences for children with visual impairments.

The books were produced by employees of InvoiceCloud’s Hyderabad Global Capability Centre, who spent 65 volunteer hours handcrafting them in partnership with SoulAce as part of a community outreach initiative.

The storybooks combine Braille text with tactile illustrations made using raised graphics and different textures, allowing children to read alongside classmates, parents and teachers. The dual‑format approach is intended to make storytelling more inclusive while improving classroom participation.

“Our students do not need sympathy; they need access to stories, learning and the same experiences every child has. These books deliver exactly that,” said Rama Krishna Vaddadi, principal of Devnar School for the Blind.

Biju Davis, Senior Vice‑President and India Site Leader at InvoiceCloud, said the initiative aimed to create reading material that children could engage with independently while making storytelling a shared experience.
