Hyderabad: BJP leaders launched a scathing attack on the Revanth Reddy‑led Congress government, accusing it of deceiving farmers with false calculations and misleading claims about paddy procurement.

On the second day of the BJP’s Rytu Gosa – BJP Bharosa yatra, floor leader A. Maheshwar Reddy, accompanied by MLAs Paidi Rakesh Reddy, Rama Rao Patel, Venkata Ramana Reddy, and former Bhuvanagiri MP Boora Narasaiah Goud, visited agricultural markets and the Vadipatti procurement centre in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. They interacted with farmers sleeping beside paddy heaps to understand their plight.

Maheshwar Reddy criticised the Chief Minister for claiming 80 per cent procurement had been completed, calling it “shameful” and “based on lies and false accounts.” He challenged Revanth Reddy to visit the centres and witness farmers’ suffering.

“The situation of farmers is not just pathetic for paddy but also for jowar and sunflower, while chickpea procurement has not even begun,” he said, adding that promises under the Warangal Declaration remained unfulfilled.

Farmers have been guarding paddy heaps for 30 days, exposed to sun and rain without sacks or cover, he lamented. “With monsoons expected in four days, the government remains non‑responsive,” he said, demanding the CM to explain why he was betraying farmers despite promising to purchase every grain at MSP.

Maheshwar Reddy alleged the administration began a cover‑up only after BJP leaders visited affected areas. “The administration, which slept for 40 days, started arranging lorries only when we announced our visit,” he said, citing how 30 lorries were arranged in Ghazipally after BJP’s arrival.

In Mulugu, Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender, joined by BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao and other leaders, met farmers. Rajender said cultivators from Rangareddy, Medak, Gajwel, and Warangal had been without sacks and labourers for 45 days, sleeping beside paddy heaps with their families. “Farmers are forced to sell paddy at ₹600 per quintal below market price due to this hardship,” he said.

Farmers bore all expenses including threads, transport, loading costs, and even the four‑kilogram deduction per 40 kilograms, he added. “If you torment farmers by not purchasing paddy within a week, your government will face consequences,” he warned, rejecting a minister’s claim that the Centre was not purchasing paddy as “utterly false.”

BJP chief hits out at rivals

Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, BRS, and MIM, accusing the two major state parties of operating under the Majlis’ influence and jointly deceiving Hyderabad residents for political mileage.

Speaking to reporters at the BJP office in Kukatpally during his Rythu Gosa – BJP Bharosa yatra, Rao said both the previous BRS government and the current Congress administration had betrayed the poor through housing schemes. He alleged the ruling party was merely showcasing a few unfinished houses built earlier while the majority remained without shelter, wasting time on reports and reviews as poor families continued to suffer.

Rao also criticised the division of the GHMC to create Cyberabad and Malkajgiri municipal corporations, calling it an “unscientific” move intended to benefit the Majlis politically. He alleged officials lacked clarity on the proposed boundaries and warned of a conspiracy to fragment the city for vote‑bank gains.

Highlighting the acute drinking water crisis, Rao said Hyderabad’s supply system had “completely collapsed,” with many areas receiving water only once every three to four days, forcing residents to rely on tankers. He warned that inadequate storm water drains would leave colonies submerged even after light rain, and recalled allegations of corruption during past floods when relief funds reportedly ended up in party leaders’ pockets. He described the city’s road conditions as “pathetic.”

On industrial policy, Rao charged that the HILT policy’s stated aim of relocating polluting industries outside the city was being misused to convert industrial land to residential use, paving the way for a large real‑estate scam. Asserting that only the BJP could transform Hyderabad into a “beautiful global city,” he praised central schemes such as the Smart Cities Mission and AMRUT, promising the party would boost urban development and tourism if elected. He urged citizens to punish Congress, BRS, and MIM in the upcoming GHMC elections.

Rao also welcomed the Union government’s High‑Level Committee on Demographic Change, calling demographic shifts a serious national concern and praising the Centre’s commitment to addressing “unnatural” population changes.

In an unrelated development, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman assumed charge as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha House Committee in New Delhi. Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan nominated him on Monday, and Laxman expressed gratitude to the Chairman and party leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility.
