The LEADS report also acknowledged the importance of the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Zaheerabad and the proposed greenfield approach road connecting National Highway-65 to Zaheerabad, which are expected to facilitate efficient freight movement along the Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor.
Hyderabad: Telangana has been ranked as a “high performer” among landlocked states in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2025 report released by the Union ministry of commerce and industry. In 2024, the state was classified as an Achiever.
The latest rankings placed Telangana alongside Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Bihar in the high performer category, and ranking ahead of states such as Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.
The LEADS 2025 report recognised infrastructure and policy initiatives undertaken by the Telangana government to strengthen the logistics ecosystem and highlighted the state’s progress in multimodal logistics, expressway connectivity, logistics parks and logistics-oriented skill development initiatives.
According to the report, Telangana recorded improvement in inland waterway infrastructure above the national average. The report noted that the state has initiated measures to strengthen river-based transportation through specialised port and intermodal linkage facilities across river Krishna.
It stated that Telangana is planning to utilise the national waterways of Godavari, Krishna, Bheema, Manjira, Penganga-Wardha, Tungabhadra and Wainganga–Pranahita rivers for cargo movement and logistics integration.
The report also highlighted major logistics infrastructure projects being taken up in the state. The proposed integrated logistics park (ILP) at Chityal in Nalgonda district, being developed with an investment of `.750 crore, is expected to create employment opportunities for around 2,750 people. It also mentioned the strategic importance of the upcoming multimodal logistics park spread across 324 acres at Parkibanda in Medak district.
The proposal to establish an inland container depot (ICD) at Nizamabad with an estimated investment of `250 crore was recognised as a major initiative that would support export-import trade and help reduce logistics costs.
The report stated that Telangana’s industrial policy includes a special provision mandating at least five acres of land in every upcoming industrial park for the development of common logistics infrastructure.
In Hyderabad, infrastructure projects being executed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), including elevated corridors from Paradise to Shamshabad and from Paradise to Suchitra, were cited as easing logistical activity in and around the city.
The report also praised the state’s efforts in logistics skill development. The Young India Skills University’s School of Logistics and E-Commerce was recognised for launching industry-linked courses with placement assistance for specialised positions such as warehouse executive and key consignor executive. According to the report, the university has already trained more than 500 students during its first year of operations.
