Auto, Taxi Drivers’ Union Holds Dharna Ahead of the Indefinite Strike From Aug. 23

All India general secretary of the Bharatiya Private Transport Mazdoor Mahasangh Ravi Shankar Alluri said, “The protest is against the government’s failure to fulfil the promises.”

Hyderabad:Gearing up for the indefinite strike from 23 August, the Telangana State Auto and Taxi Drivers’ Union, affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, held a Maha Dharna at Indira Park on Monday. Later, the protesters handed over the strike notice to the transport department.

All India general secretary of the Bharatiya Private Transport Mazdoor Mahasangh Ravi Shankar Alluri said, “The protest is against the government’s failure to fulfil the promises.”

The unions demanded that as promised, the Telangana government must immediately establish the welfare board for autorickshaws and private transport workers and disburse the announced annual financial assistance of 12,000 to autorickshaw drivers, including all arrears. The 5 lakh accident insurance scheme announced for autorickshaw drivers by the previous government must be continued and effectively implemented.”
