Hyderabad:The business advisory committees (BAC) of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council at its meeting on Monday tentatively decided that the Monsoon Session would till September 12. The BACs also decided to review the date if there was a need for an extension.

The Assembly BAC meeting, chaired by Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, finalised an agenda focusing primarily on issues of public importance. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, legislative affairs minister D. Sridhar Babu, Government Whips Adi Srinivas, Beerla Ilaiah, BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy and AIMIM MLA Balala attended the meeting. The BRS boycotted the meeting in protest against alleged police high-handedness against its legislators while they were proceeding to the Assembly in the morning.

The Assembly is expected to take up short-duration discussions on the Section 22A prohibited land issue and fee reimbursement. The BJP had earlier demanded a judicial inquiry by a judge into the inclusion of land in the Section 22A prohibited list. Maheshwar Reddy also sought that the Assembly be convened for at least 15 days to discuss 22 other important issues.

AIMIM MLA Balala sought discussions on fee reimbursement as well as issues concerning minorities communities. Responding to the demands, Sridhar Babu said the government was ready to conduct the Assembly proceedings for as many days as required to discuss important public issues.

The BRS, which stayed away from the BAC meeting, demanded that the Assembly session be held for 20 to 30 days, citing the large number of public issues requiring discussion. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said the government should provide adequate time for the Opposition to raise issues concerning the people.
