Hyderabad: The Alwal police detected a major cheating and forgery case involving fake government 2-BHK housing scheme allotments with the arrest of three persons.
Seventy-nine forged government 2-BHK house allotment certificates, along with three mobile phones were recovered from the arrested persons identified as Timmiri Gopinath Pushpalatha (54), Timmiri Gopinath Vishal (21) and Mahender Singh (45), all residents of Tirumalagiri.
The accused cheated the complainant along with 100 poor people by falsely promising guaranteed allotment of government 2-BHK houses.
As Pushpalatha was holding a senior position in GHMC and could facilitate allotment of government 2-BHK houses, the victims believed her and paid amount ranging from Rs.50,000 to Rs.1 lakh as processing charges.
To gain the confidence of the victims, the accused supplied forged government 2-BHK allotment certificates, making them believe that house allotments had been sanctioned. The victims waited for nearly three years before realizing that they had been cheated.
Based on the complaint lodged by Gogikar Prasad of Alwal, the police registered a case in May 2026 and took up investigation. While the three persons were arrested in the case, the prime accused Jayaraj Gangadharan, Nisha Raj, and Chintu Raj are absconding. Special efforts are being made to apprehend them at the earliest.
