AIIMS Bibinagar Conducts Awareness Programme on Blood Donation

Hyderabad:AIIMS Bibinagar conducted an awareness programme on blood donation in Maliyala village, a neighbouring rural area, to mark World Blood Donor Day. A dedicated session was also broadcast through the AIIMS Bibinagar Community Radio Station at 89.6 FM. Week‑long activities culminated in a blood donation camp held in the academic block of the AIIMS Bibinagar campus, which saw 93 volunteers come forward to donate blood.

In a release, AIIMS said the programmes were held under this year’s WHO theme “One Drop of Humanity: Give Blood, Save Lives”, underscoring the impact of voluntary donation.

The celebrations began with donor motivation initiatives targeting diverse groups within and beyond the institution. Batch‑wise awareness sessions were organised for MBBS students, followed by quiz competitions to reinforce the principles of blood donation. An awareness session was also conducted for NCC personnel working at a construction site on the campus.

The event was attended by executive director Dr Amita Aggarwal, dean academics Dr Nitin Ashok John and deputy director (Admin) Rajneesh Mishra. On the occasion, Blood Line, an interactive book promoting voluntary blood donation written by Dr Aswin K. Mohan, senior resident, Transfusion Medicine Department, was released.
