Agri Dept to Conduct Seed Melas From Today
The agriculture department will organise seed melas across mandals from July 27, distributing alternative crop seeds to help farmers cope with rainfall deficit and drought conditions.
The agriculture department is all set to distribute alternative seeds in each mandal from July 27 onwards. In view of the El Nino effect, officials will distribute alternative crop seeds to the farmers in rythu vedikas on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. District agriculture officials urged farmers to utilise the facility to overcome drought conditions.
In Kamareddy district, seed melas will be conducted from July 27. Of 25 mandals, 14 mandals reported deficit rainfall and normal rainfall was recorded in 10 mandals. To rescue the farmers with the ID crop, the officials decided to distribute seeds of red gram, pulses. Interestingly, around 5000 farmers had already cultivated ID crops in 11,600 acres in Kamareddy district.
