KARIMNAGAR: Neelam Naveen, 30, his wife Alekya, 28, and her cousin Bhaskar, 28, allegedly murdered a 31-year-old Dalit youth in Godavarikhani over alleged harassment, police said.

The case was registered against the three accused after the decomposed body of Joola Vamshi, a resident of Singireddypalli village in Ramagiri mandal, was found in a forest near Gadidalagandi in Manthani mandal on Sunday morning. Vamshi had been missing since April 30. Based on a complaint from his family, the Godavarikhani Two-Town police registered a missing case and began an investigation.

Godavarikhani ACP M. Ramesh said the accused were identified as Naveen, Alekya and Bhaskar. During questioning, Alekya allegedly confessed that Vamshi had harassed her since she was in Class 10 and continued to do so after her marriage to Naveen.

Police said the accused planned the murder to stop the alleged harassment. They allegedly lured Vamshi to a secluded place, killed him and dumped the body in the Gadidalagandi forest area to destroy evidence.

ACP Ramesh said all three accused were taken into custody. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.
