Mahila Congress Stages Protests For Bandi Sanjay’s Dismissal
The Mahila Congress warned of statewide protests if action was not taken against the minister and his son
WARANGAL: The Telangana Mahila Congress on Sunday staged a protest at Congress Bhavan junction in Hanamkonda, demanding the dismissal of Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar following allegations against his son Bandi Sai Bageerath.
Mahila Congress state president Errabelli Swarna demanded immediate police action and arrest of Sai Bageerath in connection with the alleged harassment of a minor girl. She said Bandi Sanjay should take responsibility and step down from his post. Protesters raised slogans, displayed placards and burnt an effigy of the Union minister.
Swarna criticised the BJP’s ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign, stating it was an election slogan, and alleged that the case was not progressing due to political influence. She said, "Justice should be equal for all. If Bandi Sanjay continues as the Union minister of state for home affairs, there is no hope for a fair investigation for the victim."
She also alleged that several BJP leaders were facing similar charges and were being protected by the party. Referring to the victim, Swarna said she had attempted suicide due to trauma.
