2K Run Spreads Anti-Drug Message in Warangal

Hanamkonda: Warangal police commissioner Sunpreet Singh on Friday urged youngsters to take the lead in building a drug-free society while inaugurating a 2K Run organised to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The run was flagged off in the presence of MLAs, district collectors and KUDA chairman Enagala Venkatram Reddy. Hundreds of students and youth from the tri-city region participated in the event, which began at the Warangal Police Commissionerate and concluded at the Arts and Science College grounds in Subedari. Winners were presented with prizes, medals and certificates.
Addressing the gathering, Sunpreet Singh described drug abuse as a serious social menace and warned that even a single instance of drug use could ruin a young person's future. He urged students to focus on education and careers and stay away from narcotic substances and drug-related crimes.
Warangal West MLA Nayini Rajender Reddy and KUDA Chairman Enagala Venkatram Reddy appealed to youngsters to shun addictions and spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
Wardhannapet MLA K.R. Nagaraju said the Eagle Force had been constituted to curb drug-related activities and urged the public to report drug sale or consumption through the helpline number 1908.
Hanamkonda collector Chahat Bajpai and Warangal Collector Dr Satya Sharada said drug addiction destroys lives and causes immense suffering to families.
Participants later took a pledge to serve as "Anti-Drug Soldiers" and promote a drug-free society.
Among those present were TGNPDCL managing director Varun Reddy, DCPs Dara Kavitha and Ankit Kumar, additional collector Sandhya, additional DCPs, ACPs, inspectors, RIs, SIs and other police personnel.
