2 Held in Hyderabad for Adulterating Premium Liquor

Hyderabad: The sleuths of Telangana Prohibition and Excise department on Sunday arrested two persons on charges of adulterating the premium liquor with low-quality liquor and selling them to persons known to them.
Based on reliable information, the Secunderabad Excise DTF Inspector Savitri Soujanya and team conducted inspections near Rasoolpura metro station. During these inspections, six Chivas Regal premium liquor bottles were found with two individuals Chikun Swain and Sonu Mahanti.
Upon examination, excise officials identified that low-cost liquor had been mixed with the premium liquor bottles. When the accused were questioned, they admitted to the crime.
The team along with the accused went to the liquor mixing manufacturing unit in Madhapur where 41 full bottles were found. Sixty-three different high-quality premium liquor bottles used for filling low quality liquor were also recovered.
The officials said the gang had even filled expensive liquor bottles each, worth Rs.25,000, with low quality liquor and earned money through sales. Three persons - Chikun Swain, Sonu Mahanti, and Prapul Kumar Nayak from Odisha were involved in the racket.
The excise team arrested Chikun Swain and Sonu Mahanti while Nayak is absconding.
