Vijay Visits Party Office, Meets Some Newcomers

Chennai: Visiting the party office at Panaiyur to discuss the allocation of party posts to members and leaders of other parties who had joined recently, TVK president and Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay interacted with some of the newcomers.

His discussion with his party honchos who had been admitting new comers, including those who had defected from the DMK, into the party fold in the past few weeks centred around the allocation of party posts to some of the leaders who have now chosen the TVK.

Among those who came from the DMK to be part of the TVK on Saturday was Sandeep, the son of senior DMK leader Jagathrakshan. Prominent among the others who were disillusioned with the DMK and switched over to the ruling party were former MLAs V P Kalairajan and J Karunanidhi.

Since many of those who defected to the TVK from other parties, mostly the AIADMK, in the past couple of weeks have not been given any responsibility in the organization, the top brass is now considering the senior among them for positions in the party.

So, Vijay’s visit to the Pannaiyur office evoked some curiosity among all the newcomers as they expected some rewards for strengthening the party by giving up their privileges and seniority in their own parties. Vijay also had a brief interaction with some of the newcomers.

AIADMK former Minister Vaigai Selvan was one of them who joined on Saturday. After meeting Vijay, he told the media that he was happy over the shift and the meeting with the Chief Minister. Praising Vijay, he said that he was a gift to Tamil society. He said AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami was not respecting the party cadre.

Leaders of TVK are now expected to take a decision based on the guidelines given by Vijay and give appointments to the new entrants, who had defected from all parties including the BJP and DMK.
