Chennai: Opposition parties cutting across the ideological divide called on Governor Rajendra Vishwanth Arlekar independently raising the same concerns over two ‘private individuals,’ John Arockiyasamy and Vishnu Reddy, taking part in government official discussions at the Secretariat and the blatant violation of the oath of secrecy taken Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and others in the Cabinet.

The DMK delegation, comprising of organization secretary R S Bharati, chief legal advisor and MP P Wilson, Kanyakumari MLA S Austin and party law department joint secretary E Paranthman also complained about the remarks of MDMK general secretary Vaiko that Vijay had wanted two of his party MLAs, who won their elections in the DMK symbol of ‘rising sun’ to resign and contest again under a TVK ticket.

The BJP team was led by State president of the party, Nainar Nagenthiran, with information in charge Narayan Tirupathi and State-in charge Aravind Menon accompanying him. It told Arlekar to advise Vijay to not repeat the mistake of allowing private individuals in the Cabinet meetings.

The AIADMK also accused the TVK of indulging in horse trading, engineering the resignation of MLAs and the subversion of electoral mandate. Party MLA Agri S S Krishnamurty and MP I S Inbasudurai sought an independent enquiry into the participation of Arockiasamy and Vishnu Reddy in Cabinet meetings and confidential government deliberations.

The DMK alleged that Austin was contacted by a TVK leader who wanted him to resign his MLA post and join the TVK in lieu of a monetary compensation of Rs 50 crore and a chairman post in one of the welfare boards in the State, which are filled up by the State government.

Another allegation made by them was that the personal bodyguard of the Chief Minister was accompanying Vijay inside the Secretariat in violation of the security norms and rules. Later, Bharathi told the media that they personally explained to Arlekar about the horse trading that was on and the abuse of power in allowing private individuals into Cabinet meetings.
