Thanjavur: Technology Should Not Erode Human Dignity, Says HC Judge
“Their voices must be heard in the decisions that shape the institutions and communities,” he said
Thanjavur: Technology should assist human beings and should not diminish their dignity, said Justice A.D. Jagadish Chandra of the Madras High Court here on Saturday.
Delivering the 34th convocation day address at Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology (PMIST), he said that women should become scientists, engineers, architects, researchers, entrepreneurs, judges, educators and leaders.
"Their voices must be heard in the decisions that shape the institutions and communities," he said.
Dr. R. Mallika, Pro-vice-chancellor said that a total of 1,811 graduates were conferred their degrees across diverse disciplines in the convocation.
Out of them 1,383 were undergraduates, 410 post-graduates, and 18 doctoral scholars. A total of 121 meritorious and outstanding performers were credited with gold, silver and bronze medals. Dr. K. Veeramani, Chancellor, and P.K. Srividya, Registrar, participated.
Dr. Suki Sivam, orator, writer and scholar in Tamil language, was credited with honoris causa -degree of doctor of letters for his more than 30 years of remarkable service towards women empowerment, leadership, parenting, communal harmony and social responsibility at the convocation.
