Passenger Collapses to Death at Chennai Airport
Doctors suspect that he had suffered a sudden and severe cardiac arrest.
Chennai: A 55-year-old passenger, who returned to Chennai from Sri Lanka after a tourist visit, died after suddenly collapsing at the airport premises on Thursday evening. The deceased was identified as Syed Sirajudeen, a resident of Broadway in Chennai.
After completing the immigration and customs formalities, he had headed to the Metro rail station within the airport complex for travelling to Broadway.
While nearing the Metro ticket counter on the first floor, Sirajudeen suddenly collapsed. Fellow passengers and Metro station staff immediately alerted the Chennai Airport medical team, which rushed to the spot and provided first aid. However, he could not be revived and was declared dead.
Doctors suspect that he had suffered a sudden and severe cardiac arrest.
Airport police sent the body to the Tambaram government hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
Another passenger died at the Chennai Airport on Thursday. Earlier in the day, an Assam-based passenger who had travelled from Guwahati to Chennai for medical treatment reportedly died, suddenly, on board the flight.
