Former Finance Minister T R B Rajaa— Internet

Chennai: Raising a question over the TVK government’s stand on the establishment of new airports at Parandur in Kanchipuram district and in Hosur that are essential for the development of the State, former Finance Minister T R B Rajaa was critical of the manner in which the recent Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave in Chennai was conducted.

In a statement on Friday, Rajaa said that almost 75 % of the MOUs that came out of the conclave were prepared during the tenure of the previous DMK government and asked why no new big project had come to the State in the last 100 days of the TVK regime?

He wanted to know why the media was not allowed to attend the Conclave and wondered why there was so much of secrecy. Was it because of the fear that the media would find out that all the plans for the MoUs were prepared by the DMK government.

Whatever it was, it was important that the media was invited to cover the Conclave to attract investments for promoting the event, he said and added that the logo for the conclave designed by the DMK government with the legend ‘Bullish on TN’ had been changed.

There was no need to put stickers everywhere, Rajaa said, adding that the previous government had marketed the long project properly and brought publicity to it.

The branding was done for Tamil Nadu and not the DMK and there was no need to rebrand the event, he said. Only by utilizing the work done by the previous government, Tamil Nadu could be elevated to the next level, he said.

Former Chief Minister M K Stalin had conducted all the negotiations during his tenure and finalized the projects, for which the signing of MOUs was done at the Conclave, he said.

He urged Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay to pay more attention to investment promotion and ensure that more foreign investments came to Tamil Nadu and the development ushered in by the DMK government continued.
