RAMESWARAM: The 11 fishermen from Rameswaram, rescued by the Sri Lankan navy after their fishing boat ran aground on the Nedutheevu coast, have been remanded till August 21.

The boat ran aground Thursday due to strong winds and the fishermen, after being rescued by the navy, were produced before the Kaytsara court Friday by the navy and the department of aquatic resources.
Kaytsara magistrate Aneepa Rajeev, who heard the case, ordered the 11 fishermen to be remanded till August 21.
It is to be noted that 22 boats and 214 fishermen have been arrested so far by Sri Lanka this year.
