Thanjavur: The Indian economic growth story balances environmental sustainability and is ahead of Paris convention targets by six years, said A. Subramanian, head of strategy and sustainability, Siemens India.
Delivering the graduation day address at Sastra Deemed University on Saturday, Subramanian stressed the importance of responsible economic growth towards a sustainable environment and highlighted India as a global showcase in many ways as it is becoming a vibrant emerging economy.
He highlighted the role of technology in sustainable growth with opportunities in asset heavy industries that contributed to 75% of India’s GDP. Digital technology adoption in capital goods manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, power, etc. offers great potential for digital twins, industrial AI, decarbonisation platform, smart grids and additive manufacturing. He called upon students to engage in a co-creator’s digital economy to create scalable value.
T. Subramanian, CTO of BMW Techworks India, stressed on the emerging role of connected mobility and the role of emerging technologies in changing user preferences. He wanted today’s graduates to use their theoretical skills to navigate the sweeping changes that transform automobile manufacturing globally and with the convergence of human and artificial intelligence take calculated risk without fear of failure.
The two industry leaders presented degrees to over 1,000 graduates from the Schools of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at Sastra Deemed University.
