Toddler Killed, Four Injured As KSRTC Bus Rams Platform In Haveri

The accident happened around 6:30 am at Platform No. 2 of the Haveri KSRTC bus stand. The bus (KA-27/F-0665), driven by Manjunath R (33), was reportedly coming towards the platform at high speed when he lost control and drove onto it, hitting people who were standing there.

Haveri: A two-and-a-half-year-old child was killed and four others, including a six-year-old boy, were injured after a KSRTC bus, allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner, mounted a platform inside the Haveri bus stand on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Hazrat Ali, of Savanur. The injured are Vasudev (44), his son Harsha (6), Kavyanjali (39), all from Bankapur, and Arabaz Khan (13) from Savanur. They are undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

All the injured were immediately shifted to the Haveri district hospital. Hazrat Ali, who had sustained critical injuries, was later referred to KMCRI in Hubballi. However, he succumbed to injuries at around 9.02 am.

The impact of the collision also caused damage to the front portion of the bus.

Haveri Traffic Police have registered a case against the driver under relevant sections for rash and negligent driving causing death and injuries. Investigation is in progress.
