Gadag: KRIDL AEE Missing For Nearly Two Weeks, Letter Raises Payment Issues

GADAG: A 34-year-old Assistant Executive Engineer with the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) posted in Gadag has gone missing after leaving his home for Bengaluru.
The missing person has been identified as Parveez. He has been working as an AEE at the KRDIL office on Kalasapur Road in Gadag.
According to a complaint filed by his family at Betageri police station, Parveez left home around 7.15 pm on September 13, telling his family that he was going to Bengaluru to attend a departmental meeting. He went to Gadag railway station along with his younger brother Sahil and was to travel to Bengaluru by train.
On the next morning Parveez called his mother and told her that he had reached Bengaluru. He also spoke to her twice over the phone later in the afternoon.
The family became concerned after Parveez's wife called and informed them that his mobile phone had been switched off. His parents then tried calling him several times, but his phone remained switched off.
On September 15, the family contacted the Executive Engineer of the department. The officer told them that Parveez had not met him. He later informed the family that Parveez had not reported to the office.
The family subsequently contacted relatives in different places, but none of them had seen or heard from him.
Based on the complaint from the family members, Police have registered a missing-person case and are making efforts to trace him.
During investigation the police came through a letter written by the officer to KRIDL MD where he highlighted a fund shortage and pressure over pending payments.
In the letter, the officer said diversion of funds for nearly three years had led to several works being stopped, while huge amounts due from other departments remained pending despite repeated requests for its release.
The letter stated that it was difficult to pay Group Leaders, who were allegedly pressuring him over the pending payments. He said some had come near his house and created a scene at the office, causing him distress.
The officer said he and the Executive Engineer had already raised the payment-related issues with the MD during a progress meeting at the Belagavi Zone office.
“Please pardon me. Nobody is responsible for my death. I have failed to manage the situation,” the letter stated, while urging the authorities to resolve the fund shortage in the Gadag sub-division and ensure its smooth functioning. He also requested that his family not be harassed.
