Udupi Police Arrest Two From Uttar Pradesh Burglary Gang
Property worth a total of Rs 4.50 lakh has been recovered in the case.
Udupi: Udupi Town police have arrested two alleged members of a gang from Uttar Pradesh in connection with a house burglary at Ambalpady.
Udupi SP Hariram Shankar said that the accused have been identified as Mohammed Jafar (22) and Kadir (32), both residents of Akrauli village in Chandausi taluk of Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh.
Both are allegedly members of ‘Bidiya Gang’ from Uttar Pradesh and have cases registered against them in different States.
The burglary came to light on July 9 when Rs 6 lakh kept in a bag inside a cupboard , three watches valued at around Rs 10,000, were stolen from a house in Ambalpady of Udupi.
Udupi Town police registered a case under Sections 331(3), 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
During investigation police arrested Mohammed Jafar near Indrali Railway Station on September 2. Police said that Jafar confessed to having committed the burglary along with a person by name Kadir.
Police seized Rs 1.50 lakh in cash and a mobile phone valued at about Rs 8,000 from Jafar. A police team later took him to Uttar Pradesh and seized another Rs 1.06 lakh in cash in connection with the case.
Police officials who continued the investigation traced Kadir and arrested him in Moodbidri on September 25 and seized Rs 1.65 lakh in cash, two silver coins valued at around Rs 6,000, five watches worth about Rs 15,000, two screwdrivers allegedly used in the burglary and a brown-coloured bag from him.
Property worth a total of Rs 4.50 lakh has been recovered in the case.
According to the police Jafar has a house burglary case registered at Nainital Police Station in Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile Kadir is allegedly involved in six cases, including an illegal arms case and two house burglary cases registered at Baniyather Police Station in Uttar Pradesh, and another illegal arms case and two house burglary cases registered at Civil Lines Police Station in Moradabad.
Udupi Town Police Inspector Mahesh Prasad led the operation.
Sub-Inspector Ratnakar K, ASI Harish and personnel Prasanna C, Jeevan Kumar, Ananda Ganiga, Ananda and Obalesh were part of the team. Mani Mallayya Hiremath of Manipal police also assisted in the investigation.
The arrests and investigation were carried out under the direction of Udupi SP Hariram Shankar and the guidance of Additional SP Sudhakar Naik and Udupi Sub-Division DySP Belliyappa.
