BJP MLA Objects To CM’s Wife’s Presence On Dais At Mysuru Event
BJP MLA T.S. Srivatsa alleged a protocol violation over Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s wife Usha joining dignitaries on the dais during Mysuru’s Jumbo Savari ceremony.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s wife Usha showering flower petals on idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari on Wednesday to flag off the jumbo savari procession from Mysore Palace premises drew objection from Bharatiya Janata Party MLA T.S. Srivatsa on Thursday termed the presence of the Chief Minister’s wife on dais a “protocol violation.”
On the dais, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Keralam Chief Minister V.D. Sateeshan, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh among other dignitaries were present and Usha also made her into the dais to shower flower petals standing next to her husband. As soon as the Chief Minister showered flower petals, Usha, standing next to him, showered the flower petals on the idol seated on tamed elephant Prashantha. The showering of flower petals was held inside Mysore Palace.
Taking exception to the presence of Usha on dais, Srivatsa, represents Krishnaraja Assembly seat in Mysuru city, stated “A list of dignitaries to be present with Chief Minister was prepared and Deputy Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy or officials concerned should have stopped persons from getting into the dais other than designated.”
Srivatsa of Bharatiya Janata Party was okay with Keralam and Telangana CM’s on the dais to shower flower petals and stated “Why didn’t previous Chief Ministers bring their wives to shower flower petals on the idol? There is a tradition to be followed and protocol for the jumbo savari ceremony.”
The MLA stated to lodge a complaint with the Speaker on Tuesday over gross violations of protocol at the jumbo savari event in Mysuru and expressed displeasure over ignoring him in performing puja to Nandi Dwaja prior to the showering flower petals on the idol.
“I’m the MLA and MLA should preside over the Nandi Dwaja puja but I was ignored by officials concerned,” said the MAL and stated “It was an insult to the voters of KR Assembly seat.” When the Chief Secretary herself had erred, Srivatsa said, “To whom should we complain.”
