A Jaguar car rammed into a fuel station in Bengaluru, sparking a massive fire. The occupants of the car and the fuel station staff narrowly escaped with their lives, while a worker was injured in the fire.
Bengaluru: A Jaguar car rammed into a fuel dispenser at a petrol station near Attibele on the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border after the driver allegedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake while reversing, police said on Thursday. No casualties were reported; however, a station worker was seriously injured in the accident.
As per reports, the incident occurred when Sanjay, a resident of Kudlu village, had gone to a petrol station near Attibele to fill up fuel on Wednesday night.
According to police, when a station worker asked him to move the car slightly to park near the fuel pump, Sanjay allegedly put the vehicle in reverse but pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. The car hit the fuel dispenser, triggering a fire. The fire from the car subsequently spread across the petrol station. Sanjay and his female friend, who was travelling with him, immediately got out of the vehicle and escaped, police said.
Fire engines from both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were pressed into service and managed to extinguish the blaze. Attibele police have taken Sanjay into custody and are investigating the incident.
