VPA Holds Yoga Session on Foreign Vessel

Port officials said the initiatives had received an encouraging response from various sections of the port community

Visakhapatnam Port Authority organized a Special Yoga Practice Session on board an international vessel, M.V. ALONISSOS, anchored at EQ-6 Berth with foreign crew members in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

Visakhapatnam: As part of the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) organised a special yoga session aboard the foreign vessel MV Alonissos, anchored at EQ-6 berth in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

Foreign crew members participated in the programme, which formed part of a week-long series of yoga events being conducted by the port authority.

VPA has been organising yoga programmes from June 15 to 21 in accordance with guidelines issued by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways under the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing".

The week-long celebrations are being coordinated by the CISF Unit of VPA. Programmes held so far have included yoga sessions for women officers and employees, school and college students, stakeholders, trade partners, and male officers and employees.

Port officials said the initiatives had received an encouraging response from various sections of the port community.

The celebrations will conclude with a mass yoga programme on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the Port Sports Complex, where a large number of participants from different departments of VPA are expected to take part.
