Nellore: YSRC Nellore district president and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the TDP-led coalition government, alleging that democratic institutions in Andhra Pradesh had collapsed under what he termed a "Red Book Constitution".

Addressing the media at the YSRC district office in Nellore, Kakani accused the government of misusing the police machinery to target political opponents through false cases and arrests.

Referring to the alleged custodial death of Sai Krishna in Vijayawada, he claimed that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu acted only after YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the victim's family.

The former minister alleged that 27 cases had been registered against him and several opposition leaders as part of a political vendetta.

He also criticised the implementation of the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, alleging that the number of beneficiaries had been reduced and that tenant farmers had been excluded.

Kakani further accused the coalition government of neglecting farmers' welfare, encouraging political repression and failing to curb illegal activities.

He asserted that the people would deliver a fitting response to the government in future elections.
