Vizag MP Flags RINL Employee Issues, Seeks Centre’s Intervention
The MP also flagged pending wage revisions, delayed promotions and non-payment of salaries for nearly four months
VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat has urged the Centre to address financial and welfare issues affecting employees and retirees of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
During a meeting with Union Steel minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in New Delhi, he submitted a representation highlighting concerns over a steep rise in health insurance premiums for retirees from ₹2,600 to ₹17,000, impacting around 10,000 retirees and 20,000 beneficiaries.
He said many retirees with low pensions would be unable to bear the increased burden and pointed to the lack of dedicated medical facilities for RINL staff compared to Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) units.
The MP also flagged pending wage revisions, delayed promotions and non-payment of salaries for nearly four months. He said dues of about `600 crore remain unsettled for employees, retirees and widows.
While noting that employees continue to maintain high productivity, he urged the Centre to reconsider shifting 30 per cent of insurance costs to retirees and to expedite salary payments, dues clearance and wage revisions.
