RTPP generated an impressive 1,643 MW against its installed capacity of 1,650 MW on Wednesday. The plant also recorded a remarkable Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 99.58 per cent — the highest in its operational history — underscoring its efficiency and operational excellence
VIJAYAWADA: In a significant boost to Andhra Pradesh’s power sector, state-run APgenco has achieved a historic milestone, with the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant (RTPP) registering its highest-ever power generation.
Operating under the guidance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, RTPP generated an impressive 1,643 MW against its installed capacity of 1,650 MW on Wednesday. The plant also recorded a remarkable Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 99.58 per cent — the highest in its operational history — underscoring its efficiency and operational excellence.
Energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar lauded the achievement, attributing the success to the relentless efforts and technical expertise of engineers and staff. He said the milestone reflects the commitment of the APgenco workforce to ensuring uninterrupted and efficient power supply across the state.
“The dedication shown by RTPP engineers is exemplary. Their performance aligns with the Chief Minister’s vision of strengthening energy security in Andhra Pradesh,” the minister said, expressing confidence that the team would continue to set new benchmarks.
Highlighting the broader objectives of the power sector, Ravi Kumar stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among power utilities. He called upon engineers of Discoms and Transco to work in tandem with APgenco to ensure that the benefits of high generation translate into reliable and affordable electricity for consumers.
While the record production marks a major achievement, the minister noted that the ultimate goal remains consistent — delivering quality power supply and strengthening infrastructure to meet the state’s growing demands.
Ravi Kumar added that the milestone stands as a testament to Andhra Pradesh’s strengthening energy framework, with RTPP emerging as a key contributor to the state’s power stability and growth trajectory.
