Vijayawada: Teachers Urged to Help Keep Students Off Drugs
Madhusudana Rao said protecting children from the drug menace was the collective responsibility of parents, teachers and society.
Vijayawada:Teachers must become a trusted parent, doctor, police officer and friend to students to keep them away from drugs, Andhra Pradesh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) member Challa Madhusudana Rao said on Thursday.
He was speaking at the concluding session of a state-level training programme for district-level master coaches at Haailand, Chinakakani, organised by the School Education Department under the ‘Drugs Vaddu Bro’ campaign and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2026-29 action plan.
Madhusudana Rao said protecting children from the drug menace was the collective responsibility of parents, teachers and society. He stressed the need for friendly conversations so students could freely share their concerns and seek help.
Master Coaches presented action plans for the campaign, using games, songs and skits to sensitise students to the harmful effects of drugs.
He called for coordinated efforts to drive the drug menace out of educational institutions and urged parents and society to join the campaign for a safe and healthy future for children.
Eagle Club members, nodal officer Vasireddy Vijaya Durga, resource persons Thota Purnachandra Rao, Durgarao and Ch. Dora, and officials of Samagra Shiksha, the School Education Department and teachers participated.
