Sigma Starts Aerospace Component Production at Sri City

Tirupati:Sigma Advanced Systems has commenced production at its dedicated aerospace manufacturing facility at Sri City, completing the transition from ground-breaking to active production in eight months.
The UK-based aerospace manufacturer has produced its first batch of precision-machined aerospace components and shipped them to its UK operations for final verification before customer delivery.
The 75,000 sq ft facility, part of a planned 500,000 sq ft campus, currently has a capacity of 1,00,000 annual machining hours. This is expected to rise to nearly 3,00,000 hours after expansion, with about 70 per cent of manufacturing planned in India.
The Sri City operation has completed the initial stages of the source-change approval process with Rolls-Royce Aerospace and is progressing towards global aerospace manufacturing standards.
Sigma CEO and executive director Sunil Kalidindi said the company aims to replicate its UK manufacturing capabilities in India and progressively bring a larger share of the aerospace value chain to the country.
The remaining campus is expected to become operational over the next 12 months. The company also plans on-campus training and skill development in specialised aerospace manufacturing.
