VIJAYAWADA: Bapatla police arrested two 22-year-old men allegedly found consuming ganja at an abandoned hostel building on the outskirts of Modukuru village in Chundur mandal and seized 430 grams of ganja and nine Tapentadol tablets from them.

Chundur circle inspector Anand disclosed the details at a press conference at the Chundur police station on Sunday. The accused, identified as Kambala Srinath Reddy, 22, of Dandamudi village in Ponnur mandal, and Movva Vamsi, 22, of Modukuru village, were produced before a court in Tenali and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

Acting on information that some persons were consuming ganja at the abandoned hostel building, Chundur Sub-Inspector Anil Kumar and his staff reached the spot and detained the two men.

Police registered a case at Chundur police station under Crime No. 57/2026 under Section 8(c) read with Sections 20(b)(ii)(A) and 27(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Section 18(c) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
