Tirupati: Three key wings of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, including its Information Technology department, continue to function without regular heads, while officials are holding additional charge.

The IT department, which develops and maintains TTD's digital services for devotees, has been without a full-time GM since the reassignment of former IT chief LM Sandeep. Deputy general manager Venkateswarulu Naidu is overseeing the department.

The vacancy assumes significance as the state government has been emphasising the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies to improve governance and public service delivery. TTD has also been introducing AI-based initiatives for devotees.

Former chief secretary and ex-TTD executive officer L.V. Subrahmanyam said prolonged vacancies or the absence of regular leadership in key departments could affect the institution's overall functioning.

The Sri Venkateswara employees training academy, responsible for training TTD employees, is also functioning without a full-time director. Assistant PRO Vema Venkata Rathnam is holding additional charge.

The Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel continues to operate without a permanent chairman and CEO. Since the change in government, the channel has been managed by some officials. TTD Tirupati JEO A. Sharath is currently holding additional charge.
