Amaravati Ideal Destination for Quantum Research, Says CM Naidu

 Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said Amaravati is being developed as a national hub for quantum computing and emerging technologies, as the capital is an ideal destination for quantum research and innovation.

During a meeting with Quantinuum CEO Rajeev Hazra and senior representatives of the global quantum computing company at the state secretariat, Naidu said the government had identified quantum computing as a future-defining technology and was establishing the Amaravati Quantum Valley to create a world-class innovation ecosystem.

He said the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre is expected to become operational by December this year and added that quantum testing facilities have already begun functioning in the state.

The meeting focused on collaboration to develop Amaravati Quantum Valley as a global hub for quantum innovation, research and advanced computing. Quantinuum expressed interest in partnering with Andhra Pradesh to support the initiative in line with India's National Quantum Mission.

Naidu called for collaboration in quantum skill development, artificial intelligence-enabled quantum applications, advanced computing research and start-up incubation.

Recalling AP’s role in promoting the information technology sector, the CM said the government's focus had now shifted towards harnessing artificial intelligence and quantum technologies to address future technological challenges.

He said Amaravati offers the infrastructure and ecosystem required to emerge as a globally competitive centre for quantum research.

Quantinuum representatives said the company was prepared to support AP in areas ranging from quantum computing hardware manufacturing to the development of advanced quantum algorithms.

Quantinuum vice-president N. Seetharamakrishna and Amaravati Quantum Mission director C.V. Sridhar were also present.
