Visakhapatnam: Special yoga training programmes have begun at the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam in Simhachalam ahead of the 12th International Yoga Day on June 21. Daily practice camps will be held atop Simhachalam Hill from June 8, between 7:30 am and 8:30 am.
Devasthanam EO J. Venkata Rao appealed to temple employees, Vedic students, schoolchildren, villagers and devotees to participate in large numbers. Describing yoga as a symbol of Indian culture and tradition, he said it promotes mental peace, discipline, creativity and physical health.
Highlighting its relevance in the digital age, Rao urged youth to adopt yoga not merely as exercise but as a way of life. He noted that yoga has gained global recognition through the encouragement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and contributes to the vision of “One Earth – One Health.”
Rao said a healthy lifestyle is essential for achieving the goals of Andhra Pradesh Vision-2047 and Viksit Bharat, and appealed to the public to help make the International Yoga Day celebrations a success.
“Yoga is a path to health and a source of happiness. Let us all participate in yoga and make International Yoga Day a success,” he said.
