Massive Hunt On For Missing Toddler With Dog

A massive search operation involving 10 teams from the police, fire, forest and revenue departments is underway to trace a three-year-old girl and her pet dog who went missing from Dondavaka panchayat near Tuni on Saturday evening.
The missing child, Jnaneswari, daughter of Sunkara Ganesh and Bhavani, had reportedly wandered out of a garden where her parents were working. She was accompanied by the family's dog.
According to sources, a passerby noticed the child and tried to approach her, but was prevented by the dog. He later alerted villagers, who informed the girl's parents. Family members and villagers searched through the night before lodging a complaint with Tuni Rural police.
Superintendent of police G. Bindu Madhav visited the area and directed officials to intensify the search. Peddapuram DSP N.B.G. Tilak is monitoring the operation.
Tuni Rural Circle Inspector G. Chenna Kesava Rao said clues teams, dog squad personnel, SDRF teams and drones were being deployed. “There is nearly 1,000 acres of forest area and some hillocks near the spot where the child went missing. However, no clue has been found so far about the girl or the dog. All efforts are being made to trace her,” he said.
Clash over ₹1,000 leaves two youths injured in Proddatur
A minor dispute over `1,000 led to a clash between two groups of youths in Proddatur town of Kadapa district on Sunday night. The incident occurred at a function hall on the Modampalli bypass, where four youths on one side and two on the other got into an argument that escalated into a physical fight, leaving two youths injured.
On receiving information, Proddatur Two Town police rushed to the spot, brought the situation under control and took the youths into custody for questioning. The injured were shifted to a hospital. Police said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Officials added that recent incidents suggest the rise of groups involved in gambling, betting and narcotic activities, leading to frequent clashes.
Youth hacked to death in Mydukur
In a shocking incident, a 37-year-old man was brutally murdered by unidentified assailants in Mydukur town of Kadapa district in the early hours of Sunday.
The victim, identified as Sampangi Nagendra Babu, a resident of Indiramma Colony in Mydukur, was attacked at his residence by a group of miscreants. The assailants allegedly hacked him to death with knives and sickles in a gruesome manner before fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving information, Mydukur police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. The body was shifted to the Government Hospital in Mydukur for postmortem.
Police suspect that the murder may have been the result of old enmity. A manhunt has been launched to trace and nab the accused.
The incident has triggered panic among locals, especially in the wake of a similar brutal killing reported two months ago in Kazipet village of the same constituency, where a young woman, Rama Keerthana, was murdered by a jilted lover. Residents expressed concern over the increasing frequency of such violent crimes in the area.
Gold, silver stolen in Mydukur house break-in
Burglars struck a house in Mydukur town of Kadapa district in the early hours of Sunday, making away with gold and silver ornaments.
According to police, unidentified persons broke into the residence of Bhumireddy Kondayya and stole gold ornaments weighing about nine tolas and silver articles weighing around 40 tolas.
The theft came to light when Kondayya noticed the missing valuables and lodged a complaint with the Mydukur police. A police team visited the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation.
“We have registered a case and launched an investigation. All angles are being examined,” Mydukur police said.
Police are trying to ascertain whether the theft was committed by known offenders or a new gang. Further investigation was in progress.
Man, mother-in-law drown in Penna river
Two persons drowned in the Penna river in Mylavaram mandal of Jammalamadugu constituency on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Kalyan, 25, and his mother-in-law Vengamma, 45, both residents of Veparala village.
According to police, the family had gone to the river for a bath when the two allegedly ventured into deeper waters without assessing the depth and drowned. Four other family members accompanying them managed to escape safely.
Mylavaram police rushed to the spot on receiving information, registered a case and launched an investigation.
Couple killed as lorry hits bike
A couple from Samalkot in Kakinada district died on the spot after their bike was hit by a speeding lorry at Durgada Junction in Gollaprolu mandal on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Jureddy Venkata Suryanarayana, 45, and his wife Aruna Kumari, 40.
According to police, the couple were returning from a wedding engagement programme at Talluru village from Gollaprolu towards Kathipadu.
They are survived by their daughter, Bharani, who is pursuing collegiate education. Suryanarayana was working at FCI warehouses in a private capacity. Police were investigating.
