Tirumala Brahmotsavams Conclude With Chakrabhishekam
Tirumala's annual Srivari Brahmotsavams concluded with Chakra Snanam at Srivari Pushkarini, as devotees took a holy dip in the sacred temple tank.
The annual Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara Swamy concluded on Wednesday with Chakra Snanam / Avabhrutham performed at the Srivari Pushkarini in Tirumala.
The ritual is the concluding event of Brahmotsavams after which a large number of devotees take a holy dip in the Pushkarini. The waters are traditionally believed to become sacred through the touch of the Sudarshana Chakra.
Earlier, a Pallaki Seva had been conducted between 3 am and 6 am. Devotees witnessed Snapana Tirumanjanam from 6 am to 9 am for Lord Malayappa Swamy, His divine consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, and Sri Sudarshana Chakratalwar at the Mukha Mandapam of the Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple as per Vaikhanasa Agama traditions.
The rituals included Vishwaksena Aradhana, Punyahavachanam, Mukha Prakshalanam, Dhupa Deepa Naivedyam, and royal offerings, such as Chatra Chamara. Priests performed Abhishekam for the deities with milk, honey, coconut water, turmeric, and sandalwood through Shankhanidhi, Padmanidhi, Sahasradhara, and Kumbha Dharana.
TTD Veda Parayanadars recited Upanishads, Dasha Shanti, Purusha Suktam, Sri Suktam, Bhu Suktam, Neela Suktam, and Vishnu Suktam during the ritual. After the Abhishekam, Tirumala Pedda Jeeyar Swamy and Chinna Jeeyar Swamy recited Divya Prabandha Pasurams.
According to Agama tradition, Chakra Snanam is performed at the end of the Brahmotsavams to mark the completion of all the rituals conducted during the nine-day festival.
Brahmotsavams are considered a form of Yajna and the Avabhrutha Snanam at its conclusion is believed to remove any shortcomings in the conduct of rituals.
After the Snapanam, priests took the Sudarshana Chakratalwar to the Srivari Pushkarini and given a ceremonial bath. Devotees took their holy dip in the temple tank at the same time. Priests offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara seeking that all devotees who witnessed, participated in, or supported the Chakra Snanam receive the spiritual benefit of the Brahmotsava Yajna.
