Three Killed as Tyre Burst Triggers Fiery Bus–Lorry Crash in Nandyal
Private bus veers into opposite lane after tyre burst; over a dozen passengers injured
Three persons were killed and more than a dozen injured in a horrific road accident in the early hours of Thursday after a private bus suffered a tyre burst, rammed into an oncoming container lorry and burst into flames near Shirivellametta in Nandyal district.
According to police, the accident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. within the limits of Shirivella mandal. The ARBCVR private travels bus, carrying 36 passengers from Nellore to Hyderabad, suffered a tyre burst while in motion, causing the driver to lose control.
The bus mounted the road divider, veered into the opposite carriageway and collided head-on with a container lorry coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the bus immediately caught fire, with flames rapidly engulfing the vehicle. The container lorry was also gutted in the blaze.
The bus driver, the lorry driver and the lorry cleaner were killed on the spot. Their bodies were charred beyond recognition. More than a dozen injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals, where they are undergoing treatment.
Police registered a case and have launched an investigation into the incident.
