Thota Trimurthulu Wants To Be Recognised as a Kapu Stalwart

Kakinada: YSRC MLC Thota Trimurthulu is making efforts to project himself as a Kapu leader comparable to community stalwarts like Vangaveeti Ranga and Mudragada Padmanabham. As part of the effort, he will hold a meeting with YSRC leaders at his native village, Venkatayapalem, in Ramachandrapuram mandal of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Sunday.
Trimurthulu has been raising his voice for Kapus for years. There are several Kapu leaders amenable to the idea of Trimurthulu emerging as a top Kapu leader.
Yet, the community’s Kapu Sangham leaders have expressed dissatisfaction saying Trimurthulu has been unable to meet their demands during the past five years.
Kapu Sangham adviser D.N. Ramesh said that when YSRC assumed power in 2019, the Sangham recommended that Trimurthulu be made the MLC. “We made the recommendation with certain goals. But Trimurthulu has not been able to meet them,” Ramesh remarked.
However, he hastened to add that currently, Trimurthulu is only the leader among Kapus who is the true voice of the community. Ramesh hoped that Trimurthulu would emerge as a frontline Kapu leader, as Jana Sena chief K. Pawan Kalyan is dependent on Telugu Desam president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and is unable to look after the interests of Kapus.
Trimurthulu told Deccan Chronicle that there is no clear agenda for Sunday’s meeting. However, Kapu leaders owing allegiance to YSRC will be discussing the present political scenario and problems that people are facing under the alliance government.
The YSRC leader said nearly 70 Kapu leaders and more than 500 Kapu workers will be attending the meeting on Sunday to decide on the future collective action by Kapus. He maintained that NDA alliance leaders are worried over Sunday’s meeting. This is the reason why Pawan Kalyan has hurriedly convened a parallel meeting in Kakinada.
Trimurthulu reiterated his demand that he wants a Kapu leader to emerge as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. He would be the happiest once this happens, he stated.
