Vijayawada: Robbery Accused Held, Gold Rings Recovered

VIJAYAWADA: Kollipara police in Guntur district arrested a robbery suspect within 48 hours of the offence and recovered two stolen gold rings worth about ₹2.4 lakh.

The robbery occurred in the early hours of June 18 when Kolli Venkata Srinivasa Reddy of Kollipara village opened the door of his house at around 4.30 am. An unidentified man allegedly entered the house, pushed him onto a bed and threatened him before robbing him of two gold rings weighing about 16 grams. The accused also allegedly stole a Samsung mobile phone.

Based on the victim's complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation under the supervision of Tenali Rural Circle Inspector S.K. Nayab Rasool.

A team led by Sub-Inspector N.C. Prasad analysed CCTV footage and technical evidence and identified the suspect as Pagadam Umashankar Reddy of Rambhotlavaripalem village in Bapatla district.

The accused was arrested near Vallabhapuram on Saturday and the stolen gold rings were recovered. He was later remanded to judicial custody.

Tenali DSP B. Janardhan Rao congratulated the investigating team and urged the public to install CCTV cameras in homes and public places to help prevent and detect crimes.
