Heavy Rain Likely Across AP Till June 26

Visakhapatnam: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema till June 26 under the influence of a cyclonic circulation extending from East Uttar Pradesh to Coastal Andhra Pradesh across East Madhya Pradesh, east Vidarbha and south Chhattisgarh at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Srikakulam district, forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places.

A yellow alert has been issued for Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Kakinada districts, where light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely at isolated locations.

Weather officials have also warned of gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, which may accompany thunderstorms and cause temporary disruptions to transport services, power supply and outdoor activities.

The IMD has advised people to avoid taking shelter under trees, stay away from open fields and water bodies during lightning activity, and secure loose objects that could be affected by strong winds.

Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places over Rayalaseema, while hot and humid conditions may prevail in parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
