Kurnool: Andhra Pradesh Industries and Commerce minister T.G. Bharath on Thursday reacted strongly to allegations of YSRC leader Byreddy Siddharth Reddy, warning that he (Bharat) would initiate a defamation suit against Byreddy.

Speaking to media, the minister expressed anger at what he termed “baseless and fabricated allegations” levelled against him.

Bharat recalled that an attempt to murder case had recently been reported involving Sunil, a polling booth in-charge associated with his (the minister’s) camp in Kurnool. The police, Bharat noted, had already questioned a YSRCP functionary named Balu in connection with the incident.

The minister alleged that Siddharth Reddy is trying to sensationalise the issue by projecting it as a “drama” for political mileage. “Instead of allowing the investigation to proceed, he (Byreddy) is making reckless statements and misleading the public,” Bharath said.

Launching a sharp attack, the minister said Siddharth Reddy has been making such accusations without any basis. He went on to remark that even senior YSRC leaders are aware of Byreddy’s conduct. “No one has made such wild allegations against us in the past. We will not remain silent if false claims are repeatedly made,” Bharath underlined.

The minister made it clear that he would pursue legal action and file a defamation case against the YSRC leader. “I will take this matter to court and ensure that he is held accountable. Let us see how he faces the defamation case,” he maintained.

The development is expected to further escalate political tensions between the TD and YSRC in Kurnool district, with both sides continuing to trade allegations over various recent incidents.
