TIRUPATI: The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated the tender process for a Rs 101-crore drinking water project for Addanki municipality with financial assistance from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

Power minister and Addanki MLA Gottipati Ravi Kumar announced this while reviewing municipal and housing works with officials at the Santamaguluru camp office on Friday.
Officials informed the minister that the project would bring drinking water from Thammavaram to Addanki through an 85-km pipeline network. Around 5,000 new household water connections will be provided under the scheme, which has been designed to meet the town's future drinking water needs.
Ravi Kumar also reviewed the progress of housing schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Officials said 7,383 houses had been sanctioned under PMAY 1.0 in Addanki, of which 4,039 had been completed, while another 2,769 were under construction.
Under PMAY 2.0, 177 houses have been sanctioned in the municipality and work is under way on 83 houses. The Minister said 5,283 eligible beneficiaries had been identified in rural areas and houses would be sanctioned in August after gram sabha approvals.
Ravi Kumar said a long-pending land issue involving 19.48 acres in Survey No. 1096 within Addanki municipality had been resolved after discussions with revenue officials. The land had remained on the prohibited list since 2015, preventing several families from securing ownership rights. Following government intervention, eligible families have now been issued ownership documents.
Earlier, the Minister distributed Chief Minister's Relief Fund cheques worth over `44 lakh to 60 beneficiaries and Letters of Credit worth more than `56 lakh to 23 beneficiaries. He also received public grievances and directed officials to examine every petition and resolve all eligible cases.
