Peddireddy Accuses NDA Of Falsely Implicating YSRC Leaders
The senior YSRC leader arrived in Rajamahendravaram on Wednesday to meet his son and MP P.V. Midhun Reddy, who is currently in judicial remand in Central Prison as accused number four in the AP liquor scam: Reports
VIJAYAWADA: Former minister and YSRC MLA from Punganur, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has criticised the TD-led NDA government for allegedly targeting YSRC leaders and activists by implicating them in false cases and sending them to jail.
The senior YSRC leader arrived in Rajamahendravaram on Wednesday to meet his son and MP P.V. Midhun Reddy, who is currently in judicial remand in Central Prison as accused number four in the AP liquor scam. He was accompanied by former minister Taneti Vanitha and former MP Margani Bharat.
Later, speaking to the media, Ramachandra Reddy alleged that the NDA government was harassing YSRC leaders and activists by filing fabricated cases. He criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for not ensuring that the MP was provided basic amenities in prison, calling it disrespectful and unfortunate.
He further alleged that Andhra Pradesh is now witnessing one of the biggest liquor scams in the country. Drawing a comparison, he stated that the previous Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi privatised liquor outlets, while the YSRC government had taken control of liquor sales by removing private involvement.
He claimed that under the current TD-led government, liquor is being sold above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP), and belt shops are operating freely in villages and wards across the state. He also alleged that illicitly distilled liquor is going unchecked.
Citing figures, he said that in the last year of the YSRC government, liquor sales brought in ₹25,000 crore in revenue, while the TD government’s final year in 2019 generated only ₹17,000 crore.
