Naidu, Sitharaman To Lay Foundation For Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub On Oct. 2

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will set the foundation stone for the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub at Madanapalle on October 2.
The project, backed by ₹40,000 crore from the Centre under the Purvodaya scheme and an additional ₹60,000 crore expected through private investments, will cover the four districts of Rayalaseema along with Prakasam and Nellore.
The project aims to promote horticulture in drought-prone areas, strengthen the agricultural economy and enhance farmers’ incomes. The government is also expediting irrigation projects to ensure assured water supply while focusing on horticulture to create livelihoods in the region.
The horticulture hub, along with the Indian School of Agriculture, is expected to create opportunities for farmers and promote agricultural innovation in Rayalaseema and adjoining districts.
The foundation stone for the Indian School of Agriculture will also be laid at the Madanapalle programme. The institution, being established by Reliance, will provide education and training in agriculture.
Naidu will participate in the DoPT Karmayogi Mission programme in Vijayawada on September 29, followed by the Palle Panduga celebrations at Udayagiri in Nellore district. On September 30, he will distribute house site pattas to 24,000 beneficiaries in Vijayawada.
On October 1, he will participate in the ‘Pedala Sevalo’ programme to distribute pensions.
On October 2, after laying the foundation stone for the horticulture hub, Naidu will participate in the Swarna Andhra–Swachha Andhra programme to mark Gandhi Jayanti. He will also attend the annual Swachha Andhra programme in Vijayawada.
His engagements will continue on October 3 with participation in the Pan-IIT Conference in Vijayawada.
