Mercury Touches 40°C in AP, Rises by Up to 5.5°C
The Met department said temperatures were likely to continue rising for another week.
Visakhapatnam:Temperatures rose by around 5°Celsius at several places in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, with Nellore recording the highest temperature of 40.4°C, according to the IMD.
Nellore’s temperature was 5°C above normal, while Kavali recorded 40.3°C, 5.5°C above normal. Jangamaheswarapuram recorded 39.5°C, 5.4°C above normal, followed by Tirupati at 39.1°C, 5.4°C above normal, Gannavaram at 39.1°C, 5.2°C above normal, and Kakinada at 37°C, 4.4°C above normal.

The IMD said an upper-air cyclonic circulation over coastal Tamil Nadu and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal at 7.6 km above mean sea level persisted on Saturday.
There were traces of rainfall in several places during the morning and overcast conditions provided some relief to people for a short period.
During the 24 hours ending Saturday morning, Palasamudram in Chittoor district received 3.2 cm of rainfall, followed by Chittoor town with 2.8 cm and Kukunoor in Eluru district with 2.4 cm
