Integrated Infrastructure Push to Give Kurnool a New Look: Bharath

Kurnool:The state government is giving priority to improving infrastructure in Kurnool city, with development works worth Rs 88.06 crore being taken up, industries, commerce and food processing minister T.G. Bharath said on Saturday.
The works include roads, drainage, drinking water facilities, parks and street lighting. Bharath, along with Kurnool Municipal Corporation commissioner Challa Obulesu, laid the foundation stone for works worth Rs 2.04 crore being taken up with ENCAP funds.
A central median divider will be constructed from the Control Room to the SBI main branch circle and from St Joseph’s Degree College on Sunkesula Road to Two Vagus at a cost of Rs 1.66 crore. A CC road will be laid from the bus stand behind the Market Yard towards SAP Camp at a cost of Rs 38 lakh. BT road resurfacing works are also being taken up along the four-km stretch from Kondareddy Buruju to Y Junction at a cost of Rs 2.23 crore, the minister said.
Road markings, centre and lane lines, zebra crossings and rumble strips will be provided at 14 major junctions and on key roads at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. The works would be completed within the stipulated time while maintaining quality standards, Bharath said.

The market yard would be further developed to provide better facilities to farmers. A plan was also being prepared to establish 30 to 40 new shops, Bharath said. With increased activity, the market yard’s annual revenue has touched Rs 8 crore this year.
