Lokesh to Lay Foundation for ₹5,350-Crore Tata Power Renewable Projects in Rayalaseema
The projects, with a combined capacity of 800mw, are part of the alliance government's clean energy roadmap and the AP integrated clean energy policy-2024.
Vijayawada:Education Minister Nara Lokesh will lay the foundation on Thursday for Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd's Rs 5,350-crore clean energy projects in Pattikonda, marking another step in the government's drive to transform Rayalaseema into a renewable energy hub.
The projects, with a combined capacity of 800mw, are part of the alliance government's clean energy roadmap and the AP integrated clean energy policy-2024. The initiative aims to meet the renewable energy requirements of the large-scale industries in the state while accelerating AP’s transition to green energy.
Over the past two years, Lokesh has been spearheading efforts to attract major renewable energy investments to Rayalaseema. Following the launch of large projects by ReNew Power and SAEL Mega Solar, the Tata Power venture is expected to further strengthen the region's position as a clean energy destination.
The TPREL project comprises a 400mw wind power plant at Kanekal in Anantapur district and a 400mw solar power project at Pattikonda in Kurnool district. The solar project would be developed across 2,700 acres with an investment of Rs 2,250 crore, while the wind project will come up over 760 acres with an investment of Rs 3,500 crore.
The renewable energy facilities are expected to supply high-quality green power to utilities, power distribution companies, commercial and industrial consumers, and other sectors across the state. During the construction phase, the projects are expected to generate employment for nearly 4,000 people.
Officials said the projects have secured 800mw inter-state transmission system connectivity through the Anantapur-II and Kurnool-4 CTUIL substations, enabling efficient evacuation of renewable power through the national transmission grid.
The projects are expected to also benefit more than 1,100 farming families by providing long-term economic security and a stable source of income. The Kanekal wind project will be developed by Tata Power Renewable Energy with technical support from Suzlon.
The state government said the Tata Power investment would significantly contribute to Andhra Pradesh's ambitious target of creating 160gw of clean energy capacity, reinforcing its position as one of India's emerging renewable energy destinations.
